Do you feel you could never be a "big" Saint like St. Teresa of Avila or St. Therese of Lisieux, also known as The Little Flower, or St. John of the Cross or another Doctor of the Church? That if you interceded for others in Heaven you would never shower down roses because you are nothing? In the autobiography of Saint Therese of Lisieux, “The Story of a Soul”, she writes:

"I also wondered why such vast numbers of poor savages died before they had even heard the name of God. Jesus saw fit to enlighten me about this mystery. He set the book of nature before me and I saw that all the flowers He has created are lovely. The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of the scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. I realized that if every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness and there would be no wild flowers to make the meadows gay."

"It is just the same in the world of souls--which is the garden of Jesus. He has created great saints who are like the lilies and the roses, but He has also created much lesser saints and they must be content to be the daisies or violets which rejoice His eyes whenever He glances down. Perfection consists in doing His will, in being that which He wants us to be."

So, most of us will be Saints like the simple flower of the daisy in the garden of Jesus. The lesser flower but Saints just as well, and pleasing to God because that was His will for us. Wouldn't it be great to have people know that even if they are no’t a Saint of roses like St. Therese or St. Juan Diego or the Blessed Mother that they can be Daisy Saints and their souls will still be pleasing to God?

What if there were millions of people who when they died, wanted to shower down daisies onto the earth as a sign of the answer to the prayers they interceded for before the throne of God? Remember, St. Therese said she would "shower down roses." Wouldn't all those daisies raining down onto the earth glorify God? Wouldn't all the daisies be a sign to the world of God's love like the roses and scent of roses are a sign to God's faithful, now? Wouldn't a community of Saints that are Daisy Saints be a great group of people in Heaven to make intercession for the people of the world? The lesser flower in bunches will be a delight for the eyes of God.

How do people become Daisy Saints? They live lives centered on the Eucharist. When they honor the Eucharist they will receive the graces they need from God in order to become Daisy Saints. Because saints are made only by the graces that our Father in Heaven chooses to give His children. We know He chooses to give us graces when we receive the Eucharist. So, receive Communion often. Doesn'’t the daisy look like the Monstrance? Don't you want to shower down daisies to the earth? Pray that God will make you a Daisy Saint!

Your sister in Christ,
Theresa Lynn
